Human Resource Managers control the performance management system which ultimately benefits the entire organization. Performance management is different from the annual performance appraisal system. The main goal of a performance management system is to have a set of employees engaging inside the company in a motivated way.



The main factor that needs to be considered in performance management system is the description of the job. This should contain the duties to be performed by the employee, responsibility associated with the job, qualification for the position of the job etc. This can be considered as an agreement made between the employer and the employee of the company. During the time of the interview, it is essential to share the information regarding the description of the job with the candidate.


Selection of employees for a company is the responsibility of the Strategic Human Resource Management Professional. During the recruitment process, HR Management professionals attract candidates to the company through several methods. Through the screening process and interview the necessary skills required for the candidates is checked. The method of interview differs for different jobs and the skills tested also vary according to the nature of the job.


After the selection of the candidate is made it is essential to make sure that the environment in which the person is going to work is acceptable for the employee. An orientation program should be conducted for the employee and handbook containing the job description and responsibilities should be handed over prior to starting of the job. Standards goals and objectives need to be prepared for the analysis of the performance of newly recruited candidates. An appraisal is one of the several elements in the performance management system.
