In a highly competitive market, employers are continuously searching for the best in class, seen as a combination of experience, talent, and sound educational background. This market reality is driving many potential employees towards the head of the recruitment line, while others are making that first step in joining the recruitment journey. These career decisions come with great sacrifice to the student, as often, an investment in education brings with it financial burdens, the need to balance work with study commitments and loss of some family time.
Considering these certainties, choosing the best tertiary institute becomes almost an obvious prerequisite to your career success. Flexibility: working professionals especially, require multiple time slots that afford them the option to attend classes on alternate days. Students must also ensure that the tertiary institution of choice has where applicable, online sessions of the module, which must also be recorded for students who missed both online and offsite sessions. These facilities aren’t an overkill as some tertiary institutions actually exist at most modern institutions.
Partnership with reputable and world-class universities: This seems to be a top of the list question for many employers. It’s no secret that not all universities are recognized globally. To add, there have been online MBA courses available which turned out to be scams. Employers now want the assurance that the tertiary body is associated with the best universities and that the student received sound support and an experience almost or similar to the university’s overseas campus.
Use of technology: Though it may seem commonplace, students must ensure that they have uninterrupted access to a learning management system. This affords students real-time information and support that pertains to assignment submissions and all other ancillary support.
A diverse mix of faculty: The learning environment is becoming increasingly multicultural and multinational. Having a faculty team from various nationalities and background often compliments the new classroom dynamic as students become the beneficiary of a wider range of learning methods and even some that they might be familiar with it.
Teaching philosophy of the college/university: For many MBA students, they are often driven to an institution where there is a blending of modern theory with practical scenarios. Students must also make this an important prerequisite before choosing a tertiary institution as the model will aid in assignment comprehension and future applicability of what was learnt.
Administration and faculty support: Perhaps the most important item on the shopping list, we can contend, that without their support, students are likely to drop out of programmes very early in the semester, fail at their assignments and lack the motivation to succeed. Faculty can’t simply lecture, but must engage students in the classroom, provide timely feedback and provide motivational counselling to the student. As for administration, quality management and organizational skills help avoid registration errors, communication anomalies and generally, poor student to university support.
